The City of London's neighbouring boroughs host a wealth of entrepreneurial and dynamic businesses that can provide City businesses looking to procure locally, with a variety of innovative opportunities.
Our research tells us that only 4-5% of the £13 billion of City procurement is spent with SMEs within the City and City Fringes, however there is the potential of placing up to 13% of City procurement spend with businesses in the City Fringes.
We, the City of London Corporation, recognise that local purchasing might present a complex challenge for procurement professionals and other buyers. To support and enable the buyer community to join the City Corporation in supporting local communities, we have launched our new Local Purchasing Toolkit. In addition, in partnership with Demeter Development, we hosted a 'Developing Local Supply Chains' event to find out more about how the toolkit can help organisations.
