» Resources » Action Sustainability joins the modern slavery pledge Company News Action Sustainability joins the modern slavery pledge Action Sustainability, together with the Supply Chain Sustainability School, has become a signatory to the UK Construction Protocol. Accordingly, Action Sustainability has pledged to work with the UK government’s Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) in tackling modern slavery and labour exploitation. Who’s involved? We’ve joined some of the most recognised names in construction to lead the way. We will work alongside Kier, Mace, Balfour Beatty, Multiplex, Willmott Dixon, Morgan Sindall Group and Tarmc, to name a few. In essence, the document commits signatories to: Work in partnership to protect vulnerable workers Agree to share information, where possible, to help stop or prevent the exploitation of workers Work together to manage information sensitively and confidentially Commit to raising awareness within the supply chain Maintain momentum through this protocol by communicating regularly Most importantly, all parties have agreed to raise awareness within supply chains to help prevent and protect workers from exploitation or abuse. Signatories will take steps to ensure the exploitation and abuse of workers is recognised and addressed, and make sure safeguards are put in place so that exploitative practice is not repeated.
